Vacation!
A couple weeks ago I had my vacation. I flew out to Boston and met up with my best friend, Su. We grabbed a rental and headed out to Niagara Falls! The view of the falls was beautiful. The “theme park” atmosphere on the way to the falls weren’t needed however, but at least it wasn’t AT the falls.
After the falls we threw our itinerary out the window and drove to the Chinatown in Toronto solely for BUBBLE TEA! I was reading in a little guide about Toronto while we were driving and found out that Chinatown had bubble tea. It may sound ridiculous, but it was really the truth. Is it sad that we kept shouting BUBBLE TEA and JUN JU NAI CHA on the way there? It may to you, but not to us. You try living in Taiwan for a while and LOVING this tea so much, then not having it ever again. Go ahead and try.
Next we drove to the Algonquin provincial forest. We were warned once we got there that a thunderstorm was headed right for us and the last one had some pretty nasty repercussions. Fun, fun, fun with my crappy tent! We found a campground that was more off the main road and secluded. I bought a tarp and we did our best to prepare. We had a really nice site right on one of the lakes with great view. We also got a great view of the storm from my tent. We stayed pretty dry solely because we lined my tent with extra clothes to soak up the water leaking into my tent. Did I mention how crappy my tent was???
After our fun with the thunderstorm we headed Stateside again and down into the Adirondacks. We made a huge loop through the park and ended up in Lake Placid. I think Whiteface Mountain was the highlight of Lake Placid. We drove though a castle like building on our way up, and then rode in a “mine shaft elevator” up to the very top. What a view!!
After the Adirondacks, we road tripped though Vermont and New Hampshire. Su told me that the drive was beautiful, but I couldn’t see much with all the rain. It did have potential though! :) Ok, the next day I found out what she was talking about. It was awesome that you could drive a major highway and still see the green rolling hills the entire way.
We arrived back in Boston and had to say our goodbyes. :( Su (not fair!) was heading out to Scotland and I back to work.
